The 2018 Business Development Symposium is to be held on April 19, 2018, at the State Bar of Georgia from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and is co-sponsored by the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA), the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association, and Gate City Bar Association.     Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers LLP, is pleased to announce that Birmingham-based senior attorney Carl “Trey” Dowdey, III, was selected as the staff judge advocate for the 412th Theater Engineer Command (TEC) out of Vicksburg, Mississippi. The 412th TEC is a two-star command in the U.S. Army Reserve with over 12,000 soldiers. Dowdey currently serves with the 2nd Legal Operations Detachment, based out of New Orleans. He served on active duty from 1998 through 2002 and was mobilized on active duty from 2007 through 2008. He is also active on the Military Law Committee within the Alabama State Bar.

    Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, is pleased to announce that the firm has elected six attorneys to partnership, effective Jan. 1, 2018. The new partners are Atlanta-based attorneys Ashley Alfonso, Ken Brock, Mark Irby, Marion Martin, Jeff Stinson and Drew Timmons. By adding two new women partners, Swift Currie now has 15 female partners, accounting for 26.8 percent of the firm’s total partners.
