Swift Currie Promotes Six Attorneys to Partnership
Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, is pleased to announce that the firm has elected six attorneys to partnership, effective Jan. 1, 2018. The new partners are Atlanta-based attorneys Ashley Alfonso, Ken Brock, Mark Irby, Marion Martin, Jeff Stinson and Drew Timmons. By adding two new women partners, Swift Currie now has 15 female partners, accounting for 26.8 percent of the firm’s total partners. According to a 2017 National Law Journal report for firms of Swift Currie’s size, the national average is 21.8 percent.

Alfonso practices in the areas of general liability and civil litigation, focusing primarily in automobile litigation, premises liability, medical malpractice and workers’ compensation defense. She has jury trial experience as co-counsel in medical malpractice cases in addition to handling motions for summary judgment, appeals and alternative dispute resolutions at the state and federal levels. Alfonso earned her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and her law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law.
Brock focuses his practice in the area of workers’ compensation defense, where he represents employers, insurers, self-insurers and third-party administrators in numerous workers’ compensation claims. Prior to joining Swift Currie, Brock worked as senior staff counsel with the CNA companies representing employers in workers’ compensation matters. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his law degree from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law.
Irby focuses his practice in workers’ compensation, where he advises adjusters, managers and employers on the process and administration of workers’ compensation law. He counsels companies and has particular experience with construction companies, manufacturers, retailers, health care professionals and the trucking and transportation industries. Irby earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his law degree from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law. Irby practices in both Georgia and Alabama.
Martin focuses her practice on workers’ compensation litigation, where she represents employers, insurers and self-insureds. She has experience participating in the defense of thousands of workers’ compensation claims and has worked with employers in a wide range of industries, as well as with a variety of well-known insurers and servicing agents. Martin earned her undergraduate degree from Davidson College and her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law.
Stinson represents employers and insurers in workers’ compensation claims. He has represented Fortune 100 companies, retail establishments, specialized insurance carriers and self-insured employers. Stinson is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association and the National Retail and Restaurant Defense Association (NRRDA). He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his law degree from Georgia State University College of Law.
Timmons focuses his practice in the areas of medical malpractice defense, premises liability, insurance coverage and automobile liability. His experience includes representation and defense of physicians, nurses, hospitals and nursing homes in malpractice claims; insurance carriers in first-party coverage disputes and bad faith actions; and property owners, contractors and national businesses in premises liability, construction and automobile claims. Timmons earned his undergraduate degree from Furman University and his law degree from Georgia State University College of Law.
