Swift Currie Participates in Diversity Programs with the State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program
Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, as a Steering Committee Member of the State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program (GDP), is pleased to announce its partnership in and support of two upcoming worthy events. The 2018 Business Development Symposium is to be held on April 19, 2018, at the State Bar of Georgia from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and is co-sponsored by the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA), the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association and Gate City Bar Association. The theme will be “Developing Your Legal Practice and Your Personal Brand,” and will include panelists consisting of in-house counsel and law firm partners and will offer two continuing legal education hours. The program is geared toward both young and senior diverse lawyers interested in developing their brand, their practice and gaining valuable business development tools. Additionally, Swift Currie again will serve as one of the sponsoring firms for the State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program’s High School Pipeline Program, which is held in partnership with the Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys and Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Swift Currie has participated each year the State Bar GDP has run the program, which returns from a one-year hiatus. The program runs from May 29 through June 8. Swift Currie will host the students on one of those days with a program on best practices regarding the use of social media and how it may impact their college and/or law school acceptance and their employment opportunities in the future.

We value and encourage diversity at Swift Currie, and believe it is important to be a leader on this issue.”
The program offers an opportunity for students of diverse backgrounds to prepare for college and ultimately law school. The program’s objective is to attract young people who are interested in pursuing a career in law and is designed to give them a glimpse of the critical skills they will need to pursue a higher education in law. Topics to be discussed include:
- What it takes to be a lawyer;
- What different practices of the law are like;
- Social media etiquette; and
- A mock job interview skills challenge.
