Overview

Marissa H. Merrill defends national insurance carriers and business entities in claims related to automobile litigation, catastrophic injury and wrongful death, medical malpractice and premises liability. Marissa joined Swift Currie after previously serving as a summer associate for the firm.

With a robust background in client service, Marissa is adept at building strong relationships with clients, while maintaining a solid working relationship with opposing counsel. Utilizing her skills in gathering legal research, writing briefs based on relevant law and deposing individuals, she effectively prepares claims to secure the best outcome for her clients.

Additionally, Marissa has a background in criminal prosecution, giving her a well-rounded view of the legal field. Under the Third Year Practice Act, Marissa argued more than 100 bond motions and presented cases to the grand jury while working for the Macon District Attorney’s Office.

Marissa earned her J.D. and certificate in advanced legal writing, research and drafting from Mercer University School of Law. Prior, she received her B.A. in criminal justice and sociology from the University of Georgia.

Interests

Marissa is a sports enthusiast and an avid fan of UGA football and the Atlanta Braves. Outside of the office, she enjoys reading mystery and crime novels and spending time with her cat.
