WEBINAR — From Logbooks to Lawsuits: The Role of Compliance in Trucking Litigation

Webinar
04.16.2026 | 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm EST

Attorney Lauren Meadows and Mollie Beth Amick will host the webinar "From Logbooks to Lawsuits: The Role of Compliance in Trucking Litigation" on April 16, 2026, from 1-2 p.m. Eastern.

Over the past decade, the threat of nuclear verdicts has increasingly challenged defendants in Georgia, particularly in trucking accident cases. Rather than focusing only on a driver’s negligence, plaintiffs often expand claims to target the trucking company, alleging negligent hiring, retention, supervision, training and entrustment, along with punitive damages and attorney’s fees under O.C.G.A. § 13-6-11. As a result, litigation often shifts from the accident itself to scrutiny of the company’s overall safety practices, making compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) critical. For smaller companies, compliance gaps can significantly increase claim value. This webinar will discuss how FMCSR violations are used in litigation, review recent case law and practical examples and explain how these issues intersect with Reptile Theory to impact claim value.

The webinar is pending approval for one general hour of continuing education credit for attendees registered with the Georgia Department of Insurance.
