Overview

Marcus L. Dean is a partner at Swift Currie, where he represents clients in complex insurance coverage, commercial litigation, automobile litigation and premises liability matters. He provides strategic counsel in high-exposure and multimillion-dollar disputes, offering seasoned judgment on claims involving negligence, fraud, breach of contract and other sophisticated insurance and commercial issues.

Marcus serves as trusted litigation counsel to national and regional insurance carriers, hospitality companies, transportation and logistics entities, building owners and managers, and a broad range of commercial clients. He regularly conducts and defends depositions of senior insurance executives and corporate representatives and oversees all aspects of litigation, from early case evaluation through trial, dispositive motion practice and resolution.

Marcus has successfully tried cases to verdict, obtained summary judgment on behalf of his clients and argued critical motions in both state and federal courts. His practice also includes significant experience handling matters in magistrate courts.

Marcus holds a leadership role on Swift Currie’s Executive Committee, where he contributes to firmwide governance, strategic planning and operational decision-making. He also serves on the Hiring and Diversity Committees and has previously chaired the Associate Liaison Committee for multiple terms.

Known for his disciplined approach and commitment to excellence, Marcus delivers precise, results-oriented representation tailored to each client’s business objectives. His ability to navigate urgent deadlines, manage evolving case demands and perform effectively under pressure enables him to consistently achieve favorable outcomes in high-stakes matters.

Prior to joining Swift Currie, Marcus served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Kimberly Best-Staton of the Mecklenburg County District Court in Charlotte, North Carolina.
