Idiopathic injuries are, by definition, those injuries whose cause is unknown. The case law dealing with the “idiopathic” injury defense in Georgia workers’ compensation claims is relatively robust but ironically confusing. In this webinar, attorneys will discuss the origins of the idiopathic defense and subsequent discussions and treatment by Georgia appellate courts to clarify this defense and discuss how best to handle alleged injuries with seemingly unknown, or at least unrelated, causes. From investigating the accident and taking recorded statements to making decisions regarding compensability and filing forms with the State Board, the presenters will help you navigate through the historical morass and confusing case law in an effort to place you on solid footing in handling these claims in Georgia.
