Overview

Max W. Yarus is an associate at Swift Currie focusing on insurance coverage, bad faith litigation, arson and fraud, appellate advocacy, commercial litigation, automobile and trucking litigation, catastrophic injury, premises liability and property insurance. With deep appellate and federal litigation experience, Max brings a meticulous, strategic mindset to high-stakes civil matters.

Prior to joining Swift Currie, Max served as a judicial clerk for Judge Michael P. Allen on the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC) and previously represented veterans and their families in more than 175 federal appeals involving complex medical and regulatory issues. His federal experience includes drafting dozens of principal briefs, reply briefs and judicial opinions, with a focus on the Veterans Judicial Review Act, the Appeals Modernization Act and Title 38 statutes.

Clients trust Max for his ability to become a subject-matter expert in their case, navigate sensitive and technical issues and provide clear, pragmatic advice grounded in deep legal analysis. His empathetic approach, especially honed through representing clients with severe medical conditions, helps foster trust while delivering results.

Max earned his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Georgia College and State University.

Outside the office, Max is active in the veterans' legal community, providing pro bono services and honoring his grandfather’s WWII legacy. He enjoys playing tennis, boxing, traveling with his wife, spoiling his pets and is a 2024 USAPL 10-Ball national billiards champion.
