Biography

Rebecca E. Strickland practices in the areas of coverage, commercial litigation, commercial transactions, and intellectual property. Ms. Strickland represents and defends insurance companies in first- and third-party disputes involving fraud, breach of contract, policy construction, bad faith, interpleader, appraisal and coverage disputes. She represents clients in lawsuits involving premises liability, negligence, employee dishonesty, the Fair Business Practices Act, the Fair Debt Credit Reporting Act, copyright and trademark infringement, business torts and agency.

Ms. Strickland also assists corporate clients by forming entities, drafting governing documents and shareholder agreements and providing advice on non-competition agreements, non-disclosure agreements, shareholder disputes, asset and stock purchases, mergers, business disputes, employment issues and intellectual property rights. She represents clients in related litigation.

A registered patent attorney, Ms. Strickland prosecutes trademark applications (including representing clients at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board) and defends clients against allegations of trademark infringement both before and during litigation. In addition, she has defended copyright lawsuits, where the issues included authorship disputes, the extent of licenses and contractual royalties. Ms. Strickland has assisted clients with issues involving work-for-hire agreements, cyber-squatting, enforcing website terms of use to remove disparaging material and other similar issues.

Before beginning her law practice, Ms. Strickland was a consultant at Accenture. She has programmed in Fortran, COBOL and SQL and worked on Y2K compliance, designed payroll and financial systems for U.S. and Canadian companies and managed a software support team that was based in the U.S. and the Philippines.


Ms. Strickland earned her J.D. in 2006 from Georgia State University School of Law. In 1997, she received her B.S. in chemical engineering with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology. While at Georgia Tech, she worked in an environmental lab performing NPDES soil and water compliance testing and, separately, worked for an air-quality consulting firm drafting Title V air permits.
