Biography

Raqketa D. Williams practices in Swift Currie’s general litigation section. Prior to joining the firm, she spent years litigating insurance defense, insurance coverage and insurance bad faith cases, including as in-house counsel for a well-known national insurer.

Ms. William’s law practice, which continues to include insurance defense, coverage and bad faith, also encompasses other areas of civil defense litigation such as products liability, premises liability and commercial litigation, among others. Her significant litigation experience includes briefing, arguing and winning motions for summary judgment; favorably resolving cases through alternative dispute resolution; and representing clients as co-counsel, as well as sole counsel at bench and jury trials across the entire state of Georgia.

In addition to holding licenses to practice law in both Georgia and Texas, Ms. Williams is admitted to appear in Georgia’s superior, state and appellate courts and the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia.

While earning her J.D. from University of Georgia School of Law, Ms. Williams worked as a law clerk at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, served on a mock trial team and assisted in the authorship of a textbook on alternative assessment methods in legal education. Before attending law school, she excelled in her undergraduate studies in psychology, Spanish and religion at Southern Methodist University and received her M.Ed. at Georgia State University.

Ms. Williams is a former corps member of the nonprofit organization Teach for America and taught at a public school for several years in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward.
