Winter Wheeler serves in the firm’s civil litigation section and defends professionals, businesses and their employees in a variety of matters. Winter has experience defending doctors, nurses and hospitals against medical malpractice claims; representing doctors before the Georgia Composite Medical Board; defending municipalities in matters related to water runoff and intrusion and code enforcement; handling litigation needs for the entertainment industry and representing attorneys in malpractice actions levied against them.
Winter takes a broad view of her cases and then strategically develops a plan to achieve her clients’ legal goals, resulting in numerous successes at the summary judgment level and has litigated high-stakes matters that are valued up to $25 million.
Both fluent in Spanish and having lived abroad early in her career, Winter is skilled in handling unique and complex matters involving a diverse range of cultures and clients.
Representing the trucking industry, she possesses a depth of experience and understanding of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, the federal agency that regulates the U.S. trucking industry. Winter is also well versed in the professional rules of conduct for attorneys, having represented many attorneys in legal matters related to the code.
A highly effective and transparent communicator, Winter puts her clients’ needs first. When counseling individuals and companies, she understands decisions and outcomes affect more than the individual or the organization’s capacity to do business, often reaching to the heart of clients’ families. She strives for the best outcomes to protect her clients’ best interests, including maintaining a successful business, job security and her clients’ abilities to keep their families secure.
