Biography
Edwina M. Watkins joined Swift, Currie, McGhee and Hiers, LLP, in 2007 and practices primarily in the area of workers' compensation defense.
Immediately prior to joining the firm, Ms. Watkins was employed as an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Attorney General (Georgia Department of Law), handling capital felony appeals to The Supreme Court of Georgia and habeas corpus cases in various superior courts across the State. Ms. Watkins also clerked for the Honorable Toby B. Prodgers in the State Court of Cobb County in 2004 and 2005.
Ms. Watkins received her J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2004. While in law school she actively participated in the Black Law Students Association. Additionally, she was an investigator for the Honor Court and was a Dean's Ambassador. Ms. Watkins served as the Articles Editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law, in which she also published an article entitled, "May I Have This Dance?: Establishing a Liability Standard for Infringement of Choreographic Works." She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia in 2001 with her B.B.A. in Risk Management and Insurance and with a minor in Sociology.
