As part of its commitment to diversity, Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, partnered with the State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program during its annual High School Pipeline Project from May 31, 2010, through June 11, 2010. The Pipeline Project is a two-week program for 15 high school students from across the metropolitan Atlanta area which includes speech classes, mentoring luncheons with attorneys of color and an oral advocacy competition. The goal of the program is to expose low income and/or students of color to the legal profession and provide a source of mentoring to encourage more diverse students to attend law school and enter our profession.
This year four Swift Currie attorneys volunteered their time with the students.
James T. McDonald, Jr., and
Douglas A. Bennett judged the Oral and Written Competition held on June 11, 2010. Additionally,
K. Martine Cumbermack and
Jennifer M. Guerra mentored the students by serving as speech teachers in the weeks before the competition.
